Construction on the Joondalup Justice Complex started in 1991 and was opened in January 1993. The budget for the courthouse was approximately $7.5m and was fully designed, documented and constructed by the-then Building Management Authority.
The opening of the Joondalup Justice Complex heralded a significant step in the servicing of Perth's expanding "northern corridor".
In 2000/2001, the complex hosted Perth's first pilot of a Family Violence Court.
The court has (and continues) to grow and now has two full-time magistrates.
